Before rankings. Before ads.
Two things determine whether local search sends you customers or sends them to a competitor.
Rankings are downstream of these. Get them right and everything else compounds. Leave them broken and you'll keep paying for traffic that goes nowhere.
Website Design & Speed
Slow websites don't rank. Outdated web design loses the click before you get a chance. I build on Astro — consistently 99–100 on Google PageSpeed — because site speed is a direct local ranking signal and your website design is your first and last impression on every potential customer.
Google Business Profile
Your GBP is the highest-leverage local search asset you own. An incomplete or unmanaged profile keeps you out of the map pack regardless of how good your reviews are. The businesses in the top three built it properly and keep it current. That's all the difference.
Step 01
Free Visibility Snapshot
Start here. Always.
I look at six things: your website foundation, Google Business Profile, local search visibility, AI search readiness (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI), conversion tracking, and ad readiness. You get one document by email — what's in good shape, what isn't, and the single thing I'd fix first. No upsell attached.
You only need Step 2 if the foundations are weak. A lot of businesses don't.
This is a one-time project, not a retainer. Depending on what the Snapshot finds, it might include a rebuilt website, Google Business Profile optimisation, schema markup, or conversion tracking — or some combination. Priced based on what you actually need.
You only need Step 3 if ongoing growth is the goal. Some businesses are happy after Step 2.
Step 03
Monthly Growth
Ongoing · only if foundations are solid
Local SEO to improve your rankings over time. Google Ads if you want faster results alongside SEO. Or both. Month-to-month. No long contracts. I don't take on enough clients to let any account go quiet.
You can stop after any step. The next one is always optional.
How we work together
Three tiers. Pick the one that fits where you are.
Month-to-month after a three-month minimum. No long contracts, no exit fees.
Tier 01
Digital Launchpad
The right place to start
Your website is slow, your Google Business Profile is half-built, and local customers are finding competitors with worse services but better-built local infrastructure. This fixes that. A complete local website design rebuild on Astro — fast enough to rank, structured for local search — paired with a Google Business Profile that's properly configured and kept in sync. The foundation everything else depends on.
Local website design built on Astro 6 — 99–100 PageSpeed, built to rank
Google Business Profile full setup, optimisation, and monthly sync
Reliable global hosting — it just works
Automated indexing so Google sees the current version of your business

Growth Engine
Where the real shift happens
For businesses that have been at it a few years, are doing decent work, but are tired of watching weaker competitors outrank them because someone, somewhere, played the SEO game better.
20–30 page Velocity Matrix built around the searches your customers are actually typing
The Local Trinity — Google, voice search, and AI tools. You show up in all three
Competitive intelligence — where rivals are cutting corners and where the gap is for you
Algorithm shielding so a Google update doesn't undo the work you paid for
Conversion mapping — because traffic you can't convert is a more expensive form of being ignored
Tier 03
Dominance Suite
For the whole region
For businesses that aren't content owning one town. You've outgrown the village green and you're ready to be the obvious choice across the whole region — without the overhead of opening five offices to get there.
Targeted expansion across five towns or service areas, working as one system
Regional domain authority — interlinked hubs where the strength of one lifts all
How long does local SEO take to work for a London business?
It depends on the starting point. A business with a solid technical foundation and some existing domain authority can see meaningful movement in 60–90 days. A business starting from scratch, or in a competitive London market, is looking at 4–6 months before the results compound into something reliable. The Snapshot will tell you exactly which situation you're in before any money changes hands.
Do you work with local businesses or bigger brands?
Local businesses, almost exclusively. Trades, professional services, clinics, shops — businesses where most of their customers come from a specific geography. I'm not the right fit for e-commerce or national brands.
Does website design affect local SEO rankings in London?
Directly, yes. Google uses page speed and Core Web Vitals as local ranking signals. A slow or poorly built website suppresses your rankings regardless of how good your content or GBP is. I build on Astro, which consistently scores 99–100 on Google PageSpeed — not as a vanity metric, but because that score correlates with how quickly Google crawls, indexes, and ranks your pages. If your current web design is slow, fixing it is often the fastest ranking lever available.
Why is my Google Business Profile not showing in the map pack even though I have good reviews?
Reviews are one signal among many. The map pack is also determined by profile completeness, category accuracy, how recently the profile was updated, photo volume, keyword presence in your business description and posts, and how consistently your NAP details match the rest of the web. A profile with 50 reviews but stale photos, a thin description, and no recent posts will lose the map pack to a newer competitor with 10 reviews and an actively managed, fully optimised profile. That's what GBP management actually fixes.
Do you offer Google Ads too?
Yes. Either standalone or alongside SEO. Ads work best when the landing pages are solid and the tracking is set up properly — which is part of what the Snapshot checks.
What's included in the free Snapshot?
A manual review of six areas: your website design and technical foundation, your Google Business Profile, your current local search visibility, your AI search presence (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity), your conversion tracking, and your Google Ads readiness. Delivered as a written document by email. One clear recommendation on what to fix first.
Do you lock clients into contracts?
No. Monthly work is month-to-month. You can stop when you want. I'd rather earn the next month than lock you into a contract and coast.
Can you help if I already have a website?
Yes — and that's the common case. Most businesses I work with have an existing site. The Snapshot will tell you whether it needs a full rebuild, some targeted fixes, or whether it's in good shape and we can go straight to SEO and ads.
Do you write the content?
Yes. If content is part of the work, I write it. It'll be specific to your services, your location, and the searches your customers actually do. Not bulk content from a content mill.
What should I look for when choosing a local SEO agency in London?
Someone who does the work themselves, not an account manager who briefs an offshore team. Someone who'll tell you upfront how long it takes and what they'll actually do — not just promise page one. And someone who starts with a real audit of your specific situation before recommending anything. That's the standard I hold myself to. The Snapshot is how I prove it before you spend a penny.
Find out where you actually stand. For free.
The Snapshot takes me around 45 minutes to put together. You get a clear view of where your business is and isn't visible online — and one specific thing to fix first. No call required. No pitch at the end. If everything looks fine, I'll tell you that.
"Highly recommend RankLocal. I was apprehensive at first as had been let down with a previous agency I used, but went with the Growth Engine and the level of insight, professional development and web exposure obtained from this was way above my expectation. Dan is clearly very knowledgeable in this field and extremely proactive."

"I had a site for my 1 man company for years that never really gained much traction so I decided to bring it up to date. Rank Local rebuilt the site and it looks so much better — modern and easier to navigate. I've already been contacted by people from the site so whatever they did, they did it right. Thanks again Dan."
